How To Build A Content Cadence Calendar
You record the video. You write the caption. You answer every comment. Your audience thanks you, week after week.
And your calendar still has open spots.
I see this constantly with practitioners and experts who have proven protocols and real results. The teaching is excellent. The rotation is missing. So the content earns applause and very few clients.
Let's fix that with a content cadence calendar: one page that tells you and your team which offer to point at, which platforms to use, and which content type fills every slot.
“Teaching is one of the five content types. If it's the only one you post, you live in the friend zone.” – Joy Houston

Why Great Teaching Still Leaves Your Calendar Empty
Teaching does one job really well. It makes people know, like and trust you. That job matters, and I want your teaching out there.
But teaching can't do four other jobs. It can't show people what you sell. It can't prove your process works for someone like them. It can't start a private conversation. And it can't put you in front of a new audience.
When those four jobs go undone, you do the giving and your competitors collect the clients. They point at their offers. You don't. So they get the “yes.”
An open door is any offer someone can walk through today. Most experts have more than they realize. Write down every one, grouped like this:
- FREE offers. A hand-raiser you give away in the chat, or a lure that someone opts in for. (A lure is what most people call an opt-in or lead magnet.) FREE offers jumpstart conversations or put people on your email list so they get nurtured.
- Low ticket offers. A lab test, a brief consult, a book or a workshop. Inexpensive, but paid, and paying buyers pay attention.
- Group programs.
- One-on-one work, often sold as packages.
If an offer is open and you never mention it, nobody finds it.
Every month has at least four weeks, sometimes five. Assign one offer to each week, so every open door gets a turn.
Here's my rotation at Heal At Scale:
- Week 1: our monthly workshop.
- Week 2: the Accelerator Mastermind.
- Week 3: Map To Millions, for experts who aren't ready for the mastermind investment yet.
- Week 4: My book, Get Cash-Pay Clients: How Upfront Labs Create a Wildly Profitable Health Business, gets a turn too.
- Week 5: a wild card. Currently, it's a small number of game plan sessions.
Give each offer a trigger word. When someone comments or DMs that one word, your automation (ManyChat or GoHighLevel) sends them the details. Your team never has to guess what to send.
Pick the platforms where you're active today. Skip the ones you think you “should” be on.
I keep mine simple: a longer video on YouTube, engagement on Instagram, and Substack. Instagram cross-posts to my Facebook page because separate Facebook posts didn't give me a lift. My private Facebook group gets its own post, because that room is different.
You might love TikTok or X instead. Great. Choose yours and commit to them.
This is the heart of the calendar. Each post slot gets one of these five types.
- Evergreen content. Your valuable teaching. It builds know, like and trust, and it's what search and suggested video are built on.
- Offer content. A peek into one of your open doors, matched to that week's offer.
- Client wins. Proof from someone who won thanks to your process. Your audience stops taking your word for it and starts seeing results.
- Hand-raisers. A FREE asset you give away to start a chat, or trade for a name, email and phone number. Then nurturing takes over.
- Collaboration content. Content with a partner who serves your exact audience but doesn't sell what you sell. My book teaches upfront labs, so lab companies are ideal partners. They get in front of my practitioners and I get in front of theirs.
No partner yet? Hold one spot for collaboration anyway, so you're ready when the right one shows up.
What Happens When Practitioners Rotate All Five
Dr. Pamela is a veterinarian who left clinic entirely and now runs her business 100% online while traveling. Within a matter of weeks of rotating her content types, she told our Mastermind it felt like people were throwing money at her.
She raised her one-on-one consult prices. Then she steered more of her audience into her group program, because she ran out of hours.
Dr. Brooke resisted the process at first. Then she messaged me that she had landed two clients in one week.
Individual results vary. These are two practitioners' outcomes from their own work, not a promise of yours.
Here's where most content plans fall apart. People map out a heroic week and quit by week three.
When I built my own calendar, it came to 18 pieces a week. So I asked myself: will I still make my yoga class? My early morning weight training? Date night, my kids, my friends?
You're building a business that supports your lifestyle. Simple scales and complex fails, so start with fewer posts than you think. Consistency teaches the algorithms to trust you. Once they trust you, they show your content to more and more people.
You can always add later. Gary Vee posts everywhere because he has a big team. Stay in your lane for now.
Build Your Calendar In About Fifteen Minutes
You could sketch all of this on a cocktail napkin. I did for years. Or you can use the FREE Content Cadence Designer I built for our community.
It walks you through your offers for each week of the month, your platforms, your posts per day, and the content type for every slot. Then it runs the “can you hold it” check and prints a calendar branded with your business name.
Want To Turn That Calendar Into Clients?
A content cadence solves one piece of the puzzle: what to say, what to promote and when.
But once people start paying attention, you need to know where you're sending them next.
That's where the FREE 3-Step Action Plan comes in.
It helps you connect the dots between getting attention, giving prospects a clear next step and moving the right people toward becoming paying clients. So you're not creating content just to stay visible. You're building content around a simple path that leads somewhere.
Use the Content Cadence Designer to decide what you're posting. Then use the 3-Step Action Plan to decide what happens after someone raises their hand.
