The Problem Isn't AI. It's How We're Using It.
There is a low-grade panic happening around AI right now. You can feel it: Get on board or get left behind. And yes, AI is moving ridiculously fast. Nobody is putting this genie back in the bottle.
There are also some genuinely incredible applications of AI for business growth. AI can help with content creation, program development, marketing, emails, sales funnels, automation, and dozens of tasks that used to consume hours of a business owner's week.
But here's where I got stuck. I was using AI…and getting almost what I wanted. Then another version. Then another. Before long, I'd spend entirely too much time deciding which version I liked, editing pieces together, and trying to turn a pile of decent drafts into one excellent finished product. Sound familiar?
The technology wasn't necessarily the problem. I didn't need more AI. I needed a better system for using AI.
“You’re gonna be the boss of AI. You’re always the boss of AI.”

You Don't Need To Become An AI Expert
My husband and Heal At Scale co-founder, Travis Houston, has always been the aggressive early adopter in our business. I like to describe new technology as an unpredictable forest, and Travis is the guy who grabs the machete and starts hacking through it. He figures out what works, what doesn't, what's unnecessarily complicated, and what actually has practical value.
Then I come behind him and think, Great. Now how do we put down some stepping stones and make this path easy enough for a busy practitioner to actually use. Because that's the part I care about. Health entrepreneurs are already busy healing.
You shouldn't have to spend your nights and weekends mastering every new AI platform, prompt, agent, automation, or feature just to stay competitive. You need someone to help turn those advances into practical AI systems for business that solve actual problems. That distinction became incredibly important when I discovered my own business bottleneck.
Find The Bottleneck Before You Automate Anything
One of my favorite ways to evaluate a business is through the Theory of Constraints. Here's a simple way to use it: ask yourself, If 100 perfect clients showed up tomorrow morning ready to work with me, what would break first? That question is powerful because it stops you from solving imaginary problems.
Maybe your biggest constraint is lead generation, sales, fulfillment, content creation, or the fact that every decision still has to go through you.
For me, the answer became obvious. If 100 entrepreneurial health practitioners joined our mastermind tomorrow, one of the first things each of them would need to determine is, What should my scalable online offer actually be?
That's a strategic process I traditionally worked through with practitioners one-on-one. We'd explore what they already do brilliantly with clients, identify what could become a group program, course, supplement offer, detox, cleanse, or another scalable solution, and shape that expertise into something their audience would actually want to buy.
And there it was: I was the bottleneck. So instead of asking AI to randomly help me “create a course,” I asked a much better question: How could AI replicate the proven strategic process I already use? That changed everything.
Stop Prompting. Start Building Processes.
I'd spent plenty of time giving people prompts: fill in this blank, copy this into AI, change these fields, generate the thing. That worked for a while, but AI has evolved, and so has the way we can use it. Instead of requiring a practitioner to figure out exactly what to ask AI, I built the entire strategic conversation into an AI skill. The skill asks the questions; the practitioner supplies the expertise.
Think of it less like staring at an empty chat box wondering what magical prompt you're supposed to type and more like sitting down for a guided strategic interview. That's an important distinction for anyone interested in AI tools for health practitioners.
The goal isn't to make AI the expert. You're still the expert. The goal is to create an AI workflow that knows how to extract, organize, and deploy what is already inside your head. For our members, that meant recreating the same line of inquiry I'd used through years of working with successful health and wellness businesses.
From Expertise To A Profitable Online Offer
The process begins with something deceptively simple: questions. Who are you? Who do you serve? What transformation do you create? What's already working? What proof do you have? What do you want to sell? How do you currently get your clients from Point A to Point B?
Instead of asking practitioners to become prompt engineers, the AI walks them through the thinking required to shape their expertise into a profitable online offer.
The journey moves naturally through three stages.
- First comes Offer Ideation, where you clarify what you could sell based on your expertise, audience, and proven results.
- Then comes the Content Construct, where that idea is shaped into a compelling methodology and offer people can understand and want.
- Finally, the Deployable Curriculum organizes your expertise into something you can actually deliver.
This is where AI for course creation becomes genuinely useful. AI isn't inventing your expertise; it's helping you organize years of experience into something teachable, marketable, and scalable. And that's a huge difference.
What Used to Take Months Can Happen Much Faster
One of my favorite pieces of feedback came from members who had been with us long enough to remember building programs before AI. They knew what the old process felt like. Some had previously spent two or three months developing an offer, and then they used this new process. Dr. Jennifer described sitting down on Saturday and being essentially finished by Sunday morning over coffee.
Instead of spending months wrestling an idea into existence, members were telling us they could accomplish the process in a weekend or a matter of days.
That's what excites me about AI productivity for entrepreneurs. Not AI because it's shiny. Not AI because everyone on LinkedIn is yelling about it. AI because something that used to consume months can potentially be compressed into days when you combine the technology with a proven strategic process.
But Creating The Offer Is Only Half The Battle
This is where many health entrepreneurs hit another wall. You finally figure out what you're selling, fantastic!, and then you realize someone has to build the sales page, checkout, thank-you page, member portal, emails, promotional content, graphics, automation, and follow-up.
Suddenly you're back inside Canva at 11:47 PM adjusting a button while wondering how your career in healthcare led to this moment. No thank you. Your expertise is far too valuable for that.
That's why our AI process doesn't stop at developing the offer. It creates asset packs that allow the practitioner, the brand leader, to hand the implementation work to the appropriate people.
Give Your Technical Integrator Everything They Need
Once the offer is clear, the process generates a Technical Integrator Asset Pack. Think of this as a single source of truth for building the funnel. It can organize details such as the offer, pricing, sales page copy, checkout information, thank-you page copy, fulfillment emails, member portal requirements, launch details, and other assets your technical person needs to implement the funnel.
Instead of saying, “Can you build me a funnel for this thing? I'll send you the rest later,” you can hand your technical integrator an organized package.
That matters enormously if your goal is to delegate and automate your business, because if everything lives inside your head, you're not actually delegating. You're simply hiring someone who has to repeatedly come back to you for information.
Your Content Person Gets An Asset Pack, Too
The same principle applies to marketing. Your audience shouldn't hear about your new offer for the first time on the day you decide to sell it. Ideally, your content has already been building awareness around the problem. You've been talking about your methodology, your intellectual property is showing up, and your audience understands why this problem matters.
Your audience is becoming familiar with the language and ideas behind your solution. So the process also generates information for the person helping deploy your content, including a content plan, information about the offer, promotional messaging, launch timing, and direction for supporting visuals.
Now imagine what that changes. While you are recording the lessons only you can teach, your technical integrator can be building, your content person can be publishing, your audience can be getting warmer, and your infrastructure can be getting closer to launch.
That's what business automation for practitioners should accomplish, not removing you from your business, but removing you from the work that never required you in the first place.
Stay In The Lane Where Your Expertise Pays
This is one of the hardest lessons for ambitious practitioners: just because you can figure something out doesn't mean you should.
Could you learn how to build funnels? Sure. Could you spend three hours wrestling with a sales page? Absolutely. Could you learn advanced Canva tricks? Probably. But is that the highest-value use of the expertise you've spent years, sometimes decades, developing? Probably not.
Your most valuable role is being the brand leader. You decide who you want to serve, how you want to serve them, what you want to sell, what methodology you believe in, and what expertise needs to be taught.
Then good systems, AI, automation, and talented team members help deploy those decisions. That's how you begin building a scalable health business without simply creating a bigger job for yourself.
If creating a profitable, scalable offer is one of the bottlenecks you're facing right now, explore the invitation and next step here.
AI Doesn't Replace Your Expertise
There's another piece of this that's especially important in healthcare and wellness: you are always the boss of AI. AI might organize a curriculum and get it 80% of the way there. Great.
You provide the final 20%. You add nuance, correct what needs correcting, and bring your clinical experience, stories, judgment, methodology, and humanity. You make sure the finished product represents something you're genuinely proud to put your name on.
That's the relationship I want practitioners to have with AI. Not, “AI, please tell me what I know,” but, “Here's what I know. Help me organize and deploy it faster.” That's an entirely different proposition.
You Don't Have To Keep Up With Everything
Perhaps the biggest lesson I learned from this experience was also the most humbling: I was trying to wing it. I had an AI expert sitting right there on my team, and instead of leaning into that expertise, I was experimenting, generating drafts, grabbing ideas, and trying to hack my own way through the problem.
Eventually I had to admit, Girl. You have someone for this. Once I brought the actual business problem to an expert, we found a better approach.
That doesn't mean everyone needs an in-house AI expert. It means you should be thoughtful about whose expertise you borrow. If you don't want to spend your nights and weekends keeping up with every advancement in AI, don't. Find people you trust who do stay current. Let them carve through the forest, then take the paved path.
Use AI To Solve The Constraint, Not Create More Noise
Before you open another AI window today, ask yourself one question: What's the biggest bottleneck in my business right now?
Don't ask what AI can do. Ask what your business actually needs. If 100 dream clients appeared tomorrow, what would break—your lead generation, sales process, onboarding, fulfillment, content production, or your ability to turn your expertise into a scalable program? Start there.
Then find the right combination of expertise, systems, team members, and AI workflow automation to solve that problem. Because the goal isn't to use more AI. The goal is to build a business that creates more impact, more income, and more freedom without requiring more and more of your personal time.
And if your current constraint is turning what you already do brilliantly into a profitable online offer that your team can actually help you deploy, see how we can help you take the next step.
You don't have to become an AI expert. Stay an expert at what you're already brilliant at, and use AI to help that expertise travel farther.
